As with our sister Campuses, CSUB's Information Technology Services department did a mass transition of instructional and support services from mostly being focused on campus to being virtual. ITS groups had to continue to support functions on campus, keep the lights running, but then also support an exodus and innovate at a tremendous rate.
Virtual Computer Lab & Virtualized Environments for Staff/Faculty
Since students could no longer access software on campus, we needed to deliver a solution to allow all our software to be accessible virtually. We worked with Apporto to deliver a solution for our campus. Further, we needed to provide virtualized environment to support our remote helpdesk students and also users that needed access to Level 1 or 2 data.

Chromebook and Hotspot Distribution
To support Student Success, our Cabinet and University Advancement groups provided funds for the purchase of Chromebooks and hotspots for our students. We distributed over 300 Chromebooks and 100 hotspots.

VoIP and Softphones
Our campus was still transitioning from analog to VoIP as such many of our users needed some way to continue to have phone services at home. We quickly stood up another 100 softphones to our employees and migrated their numbers over.

Enabling Canvas and Blackboard for Spring instruction (Training, Proctoring)
CSUB was a Blackboard campus and were in the midst of selecting Canvas as our next Learning Management System. The team needed to train and support our faculty within these LMS.

Enabling AdobeSign
Our campus was mostly a paper-based driven campus. With our staff moving off campus a solution for electronic document signing and routing was critical. This team brought up AdobeSign, started creating templates, and developed training to support our campus staff and faculty.

Reducing Administrative Barriers – Financial Aid Online Form Submission
Due to the sensitive nature of Financial Aid documents, we couldn't have students email their documents to our financial aid office. Most of our students did not have access to fax machines, so we developed a system to allow submission of documents online that went directly into OnBase.
